Founder and Partner
Chris founded Prairie Swine Health Services in 1999, driven by a passion for helping swine producers and their industry operate profitably and sustainably in Western Canada, through a progressive model involving comprehensive, practical animal health solutions and a commitment to continual innovation and improvement. He is graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and has served both the profession and the industry in numerous leadership roles.
A well-known industry communicator and a strong advocate of agriculture and agribusiness, Egan is a long-standing partner in Prairie Swine Health Services. He is graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He and his family operate a third generation mixed farm in central Alberta. Egan is also the acting National Animal Health Coordinator for the Canadian Pork Council. Among numerous awards and recognitions, he was the recipient of the 2014 Alberta Pork Congress Industry Ambassador Award. He has served in numerous professional and industry leadership roles includes including as president of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (2014-15).
Jessica grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, with her parents, an older brother and sister and many dogs. Jessica went to the University of Alberta and studied Animal Science for two years before entering veterinary school. While at the U of A, she worked for the Faculty of Agriculture as an undergraduate teaching assistant for the Principles of Animal Agriculture class. Through working at the Faculty of Agriculture, Jessica discovered how much she enjoyed learning and teaching about animal agriculture. Jessica entered the University of Calgary Veterinary Medicine program with the intention of working in production animal medicine after graduation. She graduated from the University Of Calgary School Of Veterinary Medicine in May 2015 and shortly thereafter joined the team at Prairie Swine Health Services.
Kelsey graduated with a bachelor of science from Queen’s University, Ontario, in 2011. After graduation, she moved back to Calgary with plans to apply for vet school. Kelsey studied veterinary medicine at the University of Calgary where she focused on production animal medicine. She graduated from vet school in 2017 and started as a veterinarian with Prairie Swine Health Services in June. She currently volunteers with the Calgary Stampede Pork Committee.
Registered Veterinary Technician
Tracy grew up on dairy farm that also had beef cows and horses. She graduated from the Univeristy of Calgary with a B.Sc degree in 2007 and graduated from Olds college as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2013. She has worked at Prairies Swine Health Services off at various times on different projects since 2014. Tracy is urrently working on implementing a Pork Avenue Training Program -- an online training program for pig farms in Canada.
Diana started with Prairie Swine Health Services in 2015 as Office Coordinator and has advanced to become Office Manager. She brings over 10 years of experience in mixed animal practice where she has had a variety of experiences. She took her certificate with the Academy of Learning in 2004 as a Medical Office Assistant with Veterinary Specialist training and has been working in the veterinary industry ever since. She is also on the Olds College teaching roster for their online Veterinary Practice Management course. When work is not keeping her busy, her family is.
Business Account Manager
Katrina began her career with Prairie Swine Health Services in 2012 as an Office Assistant, and then advanced to the Office Manager position, and is now Strategic Business Account Manager. She has a diploma from Olds College in Veterinary Medicine Reception, as well as a diploma from NAIT in Accounting. Katrina attended both institutions on basketball scholarships. In addition to her passion for basketball she is also enjoys playing slo-pitch with her husband in the summer. Many Prairie Swine Health Service clients know Katrina’s dog Tonic, who loves to hang out with the office staff and greet the clients. In addition to Tonic she also has two cats at home – Jacob and Tequila.
